Abstract:

This project revisits the effects of team composition on new venture performance and explores how this effect combines with interactions within the management teams to affect new venture performance. Following the call for greater use of experimental data in new venture research (Williams et al. Journal of Business Venturing, 2019), we analyse that we collected in a series of business simulations involving 52 teams over 5 cohorts with a total of over 230 participants. We find further support to already identified composition variables, and observe how these are moderated by variables such as the level of trust between team members and the context of decision making. Our data is analyzed through a fsQCA methodology
